Обычно же, ишемическая болезнь сердца не является основной причиной изменений, регистрируемых на электрокардиограмме спортсмена,  чей образ жизни скорее способствует профилактике атеросклероза. В то же время, изменения свойственные спортивному сердцу, могут в значительной степени имитировать ишемические.
