<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of research on the long-term effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on physical and mental health. ACEs are preventable and potentially traumatic events that occur to children and adolescents aged under 18 years. The consequences of ACEs are the basis of many widespread, serious and costly health and social problems leading to premature death. This publication examines the ACEs epidemiology, as well as their risk factors and potential mechanisms of impact on the human body. Creating a supportive environment for children's growth and development is crucial for promoting their long-term health and wellbeing.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>травмирующий опыт детства</kwd><kwd>смертность</kwd><kwd>неинфекционные заболевания</kwd><kwd>хронический стресс</kwd><kwd>хроническое воспаление</kwd><kwd>нейроразвитие</kwd><kwd>эпигенетика</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>adverse childhood experience</kwd><kwd>mortality</kwd><kwd>non-communicable diseases</kwd><kwd>chronic stress</kwd><kwd>chronic inflammation</kwd><kwd>neurodevelopment</kwd><kwd>epigenetics</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Баранов А.
