The role of the German scientist Karl Fuchs in the development of the Kazan Internal Medicine School

Abstract

The article is dedicated to Karl Fedorovich Fuchs, an outstanding doctor, scientist, and local historian, professor of the Department of Therapy, Pathology and Clinics, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Rector of the Imperial Kazan University. Being born in Germany, in the city of Herborn, he devoted his whole life to the benefit of Kazan and its inhabitants.

The article describes the research, teaching and medical activities of K. Fuchs, his contribution to the development of clinical teaching and the development of the internal medicine school in Kazan. We described the range of his scientific interests and the influence of research on the development of medicine in Kazan in the 19th century. Much attention is paid to the personality traits of K. F. Fuchs, an integral part of the doctor and teacher, which inspire students for further development.
