Abstract

The article considers the problem of developing communicative competence of local general practitioners in preventive counseling. The study showed that the process of preventive counseling is an integration of medical diagnostic, preventive and psychologicalpedagogical activities of a local general practitioner.

The paper presents the content of the doctor’s communicative competence, which is the ability and readiness to inform the patient about the examination results, to clarify information taking into account the individual patient characteristics, as well as to improve the patient’s medical adherence.

The indicators of achieving the anticipated results, expressed in communicative competence development, are determined, represented by communicative skills, which make up 3/4 of the total number of skills being formed, and the doctor’s skills in medical diagnostic and preventive activities, which make up 1/4 of the total number of necessary skills.

The results obtained made it possible to predict the most effective methods of preparing doctors for a brief preventive consultation and to determine the requirements for control and evaluation materials that provide an objective assessment of the development of identified skills. The obtained materials can serve as a basis for developing a methodology for developing doctor’s communicative skills in conducting preventive counseling and further quality monitoring.

Abstract

This paper shows the influence of students’ participation in the Olympiad movement in internal medicine on the development of their competencies. On the basis of the Department of Hospital Therapy and Endocrinology of the Chita State Medical Academy, an intra-university Olympiad in internal medicine was held for sixth-year students. We assessed the level of effectiveness of the competence-based approach as part of the active implementation of the Olympiad movement. This paper shows that participation in the Olympiad movement allows students to master a high level of competencies, form a clearer idea of the profession, which in the future makes it possible to prevent professional incompetence.

  • The main motivation of students to visit the student science club (SSC) is the desire to get new information and practical skills, as well as to take part in research work.
  • The most attractive modes of SSC work are clinical discussions, joint duty with the club head in the clinic and participation in research work.
  • A visit to the SSC allows students to gain experience in research work, motivates them to enter graduate school and forms a personnel reserve for the teaching staff of an educational institution.

Abstract

Aim. Studying the motivation of students to participate in the work of student science clubs (SSCs) and determining the most attractive modes of work for students.

Material and methods. The study involved 28 postgraduate students and 129 thirdand fourth-year students of the pediatric faculty of the Pirogov National Research Medical University. A snapshot survey was conducted with subsequent analysis and statistical processing of the data obtained.

Results. The results showed that 45% of the students surveyed are active SSC participants. The most interesting for students are clinical disciplines (pediatrics, therapy, surgery). The main reasons for participation in the club are the desire to expand their knowledge in the specialty, acquire practical skills, to take part in research work. In addition, 95% of the surveyed postgraduate students were active participants in the SSCs according to the profile chosen in the specialty. The most attractive modes of work are clinical examinations, joint duty with the head of the SSCs in the clinic and participation in research work.

Conclusion. Active participation in SSCs provides an in-depth study of the area of interest in medicine and science, motivates students to continue research work upon graduation, admission to graduate school and develops a candidate’s pool of the teaching staff of the institution. The results revealed high demand among medical students for the experience of research work, the expansion and deepening of knowledge in the specialty, as well as the positive impact of participation in SSCs on the further formation of future clinicians.

Abstract

Aim. To evaluate the effectiveness of the student science club (SSC) in a medical university to prepare students for future professional activities. To achieve this aim, the task was to analyze pedagogical methods and their impact on increasing the motivation to participate in the SSC work, the emergence of interest in scientific activities, and the deepening of knowledge in outpatient internal medicine.

Material and methods. A survey of 25 SSC participants was conducted. The questionnaire was developed by the curator and graduate of the SSC. Data collection was carried out using an online survey, the form of which was created on the Google Forms basis. The questionnaire contained 14 questions regarding motivation to attend meetings, the benefits of the SSC, evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of classes. University graduates working in medical institutions were asked additional questions regarding the practical application of the acquired knowledge and the impact of work in the SSC on their choice of future specialty.

Results. The underlying motive for participation in the SSC work was personal scientific enrichment. Also, the majority of respondents noted the effectiveness of the club format, which includes short informative blocks and a vigorous debate. The most important aspects of the effectiveness of the SSC work have the practical significance of the acquired knowledge (average score, 10 out of 10), increased motivation to study (9,2), and improved level of theoretical training (9,1).

Conclusion. Identification of the main motivation factors and effectiveness of SSC classes can be useful for chiefs in drawing up a work plan, choosing the optimal meeting format, preparing reports, and organizing scientific work. The greatest attention in the SSC of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy should be given to clinical reviews of patients with complex diagnoses and problems in the selection of therapy, work with real examination results, including ECG, the continuity of the theoretical knowledge gained with their practical application. A significant factor in the SSC success is the development of a structure for classes that increases their effectiveness, and the creation of a favorable psychic atmosphere that helps increase motivation to attend meetings and actively participate in the work.

Abstract

Modern technification of medical practice reduces the humanistic potential of medicine and reduces the effectiveness of treatment.

Aim of the project. To create the concept of training medical personnel based on the synergy of the best spiritual and moral traditions of the past and breakthrough scientific, creative, innovative and educational technologies to graduate a new generation of specialists who meet the modern requirements, able to meet the healthcare challenges and ready to become leaders in the medicine of the future.

Results. The experience of implementing such an interdisciplinary scientific direction as medical anthropology was used, which explains the influence of various factors on the health and well-being of both one individual and a group of people and is based on the idea of humanization of medicine. A project of a new teaching concept “Tver Spiral” is proposed, where the main idea is the development of a multifaceted personality of a future doctor from the standpoint of medical knowledge, philosophy of medicine, bioethics, and biopolitics. This combines not only the contribution of fundamental knowledge and digitalization in selected areas of medicine, but also the study of a holistic approach in understanding the psychological causes, consequences and ways of improving the health and well-being of the patient as a whole.

Abstract

Semen Semenovich Zimnitsky was a great Russian internist, a participant in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). He proved that soldiers wounded by pointed bullets are seriously injured they need annual leave. S. S. Zimnitsky can be considered one of the founders of battlefield internal medicine in Russia. In the work "Diseases of the pulmonary parenchyma and pleura", he described croupous pneumonia and "abdominal syndrome" with dry pleurisy. He also concludes that pulmonary tuberculosis is not a local disease but involves the whole organism, the state of defensive mechanisms of which determines both the disease performance and the results of immunological and biological tests.

The direction in internal medicine, created by S. S. Zimnitsky, was clearly reflected in following cardiology issues: heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, bacterial endocarditis.

Abstract

The early period of S. S. Zimnitsky scientific activity is characterized by a passion for microbiology, immunology and infectious diseases. Of great importance was the three-year work abroad with I. I. Mechnikov and R. Virkhov. S. S. Zimnitsky gained worldwide fame for his discovery of Manchurian typhus. S. S. Zimnitsky investigated blood complements, proved the presence of "group immuniziny", treated croupous pneumonia with monovalent serum. An analysis of S. S. Zimnitsky works in the field of infectious diseases, microbiology and immunology, several biochemical studies indicate the great contribution of the scientist to the development of Russian biological science.
