Abstract

Aim. To investigate the volume and structure of educational activity of specialists admitted to the specialty of geriatrics in continuing education.

Material and methods. The study was conducted on the basis of the data of the Portal of Continuing Medical and Pharmaceutical Education (NMPE Portal) about the health care specialists registered on it and the results of their mastering the educational elements of continuing education.

Results. A methodology for selecting a group of specialists to analyze their educational activity on the NMPE Portal for a certain specialty (Methodology) was developed. In accordance with the developed Methodology, a group of geriatricians maximally using the NMPO Portal to record their educational activity was singled out. High indicators of the volume of educational activity of doctors of the selected group and the number of educational elements of all types mastered by them: additional professional development programs (APDP), educational events (EE) and interactive educational modules (IEM) were revealed. The distribution of mastering of educational elements in all years of study before periodic accreditation with the increase of activity in the fifth year of study was noted. The labor intensity, form of training and direction of content of the PCPPs most frequently chosen by geriatricians were analyzed.

Conclusion. The obtained results may indicate a sufficiently high degree of involvement of geriatricians in the system of continuing education, their commitment to the implementation of training recommendations and maximum use of existing opportunities to choose educational elements of various types, their labor intensity, as well as forms and schedule of training.

THE DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT OF MEDICAL EDUCATION

Abstract

The exponential growth of biomedical data coupled with advances in machine learning (ML) has created opportunities for more precise diagnosis, enhanced treatment planning, and improved patient management. However, the successful implementation of ML in clinical settings depends on healthcare professionals’ understanding and competency in these technologies. This study examines the effectiveness of integrating ML methodologies into the curricula of Astana Medical University and S. D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University. Focusing on childhood allergic conditions such as asthma, rhinitis, and skin diseases, a supervised ML approach (linear regression) was employed to analyze both clinical and educational data. Results showed that the experimental group of students who received ML-integrated training demonstrated significant improvements in analytical competence and data processing accuracy compared to the control group. The ML model achieved a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,85 with low prediction errors (MAE=0,45, MSE=0,30, RMSE=0,55). Statistical tests supported the hypothesis that structured ML education enhances medical students’ competencies, suggesting that future healthcare professionals trained in ML can better leverage data-driven decision-making for improved patient care. This study contributes to the growing body of literature advocating for ML integration in medical education and underscores the need for further research into advanced ML algorithms and long-term clinical outcomes.

Abstract

Aim. To assess the significance and relevance of using artificial intelligence for teaching students interested in foreign languages.

Material and methods. The study included a survey of students from the Privolzhsky Research Medical University, Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, and the Kstovsky Branch of the Arzamas Medical College, which took into account students' interest in using artificial intelligence in foreign language classes. A total of 256 students took part in the study.

Results. The majority of surveyed medical students are interested in supplementing conventional foreign language classes with artificial intelligence programs, despite the presence of rare errors. Such a practice can improve academic performance.

Conclusion. The conducted study confirmed the importance and relevance of using artificial intelligence in teaching foreign languages, especially regarding interested students. The analysis of open sources, as well as our own survey, showed that the integration of artificial intelligence into the educational process not only contributes to a deeper understanding of the language, but also makes learning more interactive and personalized. Students show a high interest in technologies that can adapt to their individual needs and learning style, which in turn increases motivation and the effectiveness of learning.

Abstract

The article presents the applied aspects of empathy — a tool of psychological counseling. The mechanisms of empathy and empathic understanding are described. Although a physician is not a psychologist and is not required to have all related competencies, it is the physician who has the power to manage the patient’s disease narrative and lead to constructive coping with the disease situation. In cardiology practice, the psychosomatic component has a significant share from stress regulation to modification of behavioral risk factors. The ability to create a favorable emotional environment without being imbued to the extent to waste own resource is a high-level communication skill. Its basic components are empathy and empathic understanding.

Abstract

Nursing in Lebanon is a unique example of a medical profession shaped by centuries of history, social and cultural diversity, and a complex geopolitical environment. This area of healthcare has evolved from traditional caring for patients in family and community structures to high-quality practice based on evidence and international standards. Lebanese nurses face a lack of resources and the need to work in a multicultural environment in the context of social and economic instability, which requires not only professional skills, but also exceptional psychological stability, ethical competence, and cultural sensitivity. One of the most pressing issues is the mass migration of nurses abroad, which poses a critical personnel threat to the country's healthcare system. A comparison with the experience of Russian nurses makes it possible to highlight both common features and differences due to national characteristics, which enriches our understanding of the global challenges of this profession.

Abstract

When studying the medicine history from antiquity to the present day, the issue of knowledge level that a researcher must have in order to competently select and analyze historical records, prepare a related analytical article or program cannot be ignored. The article is devoted to a new discipline, which has access to a huge part of material for analysis, which is outside the field of view of a specialist historian or a physician studying history. Familiarity with the history of teaching this discipline and the knowledge requirements of a modern Church historian can direct researchers to identify new aspects of a complete understanding of medicine history.

Abstract

S. S. Zimnitsky and N. S. Korotkoff are great Russian scientists and doctors who have made an invaluable contribution to medicine. The beginning of their life path was approximately the same, but after receiving their medical degrees, their fates began to differ dramatically. The article presents a comparative analysis of the biographies of the two scientists. Their life path, which led to great discoveries in medicine, is shown.
